Sharika and I had been talking for awhile about her website, and with some prodding, she asked for my help.  Designing a site for an artist is the job for an artist, so I turned to a graphic artist at BCRA, Holly Weiman (Holly’s here, too).

Together, we came up with some ideas and presented them to Sharika, and she loved them. Our initial inspiration for this site was Bob Dylan’s art site – lots of white, very simple, understated and elegant.  Not long after the site went live, we switched to a flash element on the front page.  Sharika’s sales have dramatically increased, and she attributes that, in part, to her web site.  I attribute it to her fantastic art.

Connie Hampton Connally Website
Connie Hampton Connally is a Northwest author and educator. We met only once or twice and came up with the ideas for the look & feel; thankfully, she had a great idea of what she wanted, so the site came together quickly and to everyone’s satisfaction. We chose WordPress for the versatility, and so she could blog. In this case, WordPress functions more like a “Content Management System” than a blog; most of the content is static, but there is a blog page included. So not only can Connie log into and update the content, but she has a fully functional blog site. I included a flash element using a photo she took in Europe, to illustrate a saying that she wanted to include on her home page. http://www.chconnally.com.

From Connie:

Phil,
I think the site looks great. I really like it, and I’m excited to go out with it. … I’m delighted with the results. My son Brendan said it’s beautiful and looks very professional, and I agree!

This is the site I built for my wife Kathy. Photos by Andrea Anderson. http://www.kathyscurtains.com.

chs
The CHS website. is my earliest ongoing web gig – my two older kids went to CHS. The client really needs a site that they can edit reguarly themselves, so it’s built using frontpage, and the editable pages are linked to tempates with only certain areas editable. Works great.

greenspring
Green Spring is an annual event at my company, and greenspringtacoma.com is a site I do every year as a volunteer contribution; it’s also my first bit of flash.
